
Houston Maharashtra Mandal is delighted to invite you to the 'HMM Diwali 2008', on Saturday, November 15th, 2008. Come and celebrate this festival of lights with family and friends and enjoy this entertaining event along with delectable traditional Diwali Faral at Durga Bari.
This year's event features a KATHAK performance By Neha Pendse, an accomplished Kathak dancer and a delightful comedy drama, "Rashi chakra, Zale vakra", based on moon signs and relationships, produced, written and directed by Madhavi Kulkarni, Sunita Darkunde and Achala Bapat. Both these programs will be performed by our local and gifted artists.
In addition to these spectacular events, this year we have something for community members too!!
Come and participate in the following:
1. Akash Kandil competition: make traditional Indian diwali lamps and light up the event. (Only first 20 entrees will be accepted).
2. Rangoli competition: create beautiful rangoli art at the venue in one hour and amaze the Judges. (Only first 10 entrees will be accepted)
3. Best traditionally dressed couple: come dressed in your best Indian costumes as a couple and be the center of every one's attention.
4. Audio-Visual Diwali Anka for Sale : Set of 2 DVDs with quality contents of eminent performers like Prashant Damle, Sharad Ponkshe, Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar, Devaki Pandit, Ravindra Sathe, Sawani Shende, Yogacharya B.K.S. Aiyengar, Sonali Kulkarni, etc. for only 15 Dollars.
5.Launching of Marathi Books in HPL : HPL (Houston Public Library) Representatives will be part of our event to introduce the Launching of Marathi Books Collection in HPL.

Why RSVP?
A catered snacks (Faral) will be provided at the event, so an accurate headcount is needed ahead of time to ensure that everyone can be served, while minimizing waste.
People, who show up for the event without RSVP, lead to a potential food shortage. If we guess an attendance, we potentially risk wasting a lot of food. We like neither of those options, so please, please RSVP ahead of time.
